Inspired by the okir, a general term for both the scroll and geometric forms of the Maranaos’ which depicts abstract forms of fruits, leaves, and buds or blossoms. The okir can be commonly seen as ornate wood carvings of panolongs (exposed beam-end structure) of royal houses called torogans in many villages around the Lake Lanao shores.
